Sealing in carpentry may often seem insignificant and price may be the only criterion for choosing a sealant. However, like any other material, sealants have a limited mechanical resistance and capacity to withstand atmospheric agents. Products with limits that exceed the requirements of normal use should therefore be applied. These should be recommended by specialised manufacturers who have a thorough enough research programme to be able to design each product to suit the requirements of its application. This is the only way to prevent the costly, difficult to repair damage that can be caused by a bad sealant (which ranges from 10 to 100 times greater than the saving attained in buying cheap material)
The purchased product should bear a trustmark that guarantees quality and total compliance with the technical specifications. Users should bear in mind the manufacturer's recommendations to enable them to choose the product that best suits their needs. The application of a high-quality product is a guarantee of competitiveness, performance and savings. |
